Stephany Templeton Paintings in the back yard

Oil painting is my current passion, but my skills and interests have changed and evolved as the years have passed. Here is a quick little background of my journey as a lover of art.

In my younger years, I developed my skills in portraiture - pencil, pastels, and more - by drawing siblings and strangers in school and for art competitions. When I went off to college at East Carolina University, I majored in Interior Design and minored in Drawing. Four years brought me experience with many new mediums, deeper development of my drawing skills, and the knowledge I needed to succeed as an interior designer. My career has focused on interior design, and I have loved every minute of transforming a space into something beautiful that people can enjoy.

When my girls grew into young ladies and became more independent, I found myself with more free time. I decided to return to art in a more dedicated way and take classes to learn the techniques of a medium I had not previously tackled - oil painting. I have studied under Andy Braitman in Charlotte, NC (http://www.braitmanstudio.com/) for four years to further develop the breadth of my painting skills. I've worked on landscapes for a majority of my time painting, and have recently been working to return to my portraiture roots every now and then. I hope to continue to grow as a painter as I continue to get more and more experience!

I've been interested in art for my whole life, and love the fact that I've been able to keep learning and keep creating. This site is part of my new effort to take this love and turn it into a little business on the side. The journey continues with your support! Thanks for reading!
